We are seeking volunteers to help us run our Therapeutic Summer Camps for school age children with special needs from the Pitt Meadows/Maple Ridge area. The purpose of these occupational and physiotherapy camps is to promote fine and gross motor skill development, as well as provide an opportunity to expand social and sports skills.

This is a great opportunity for volunteers to develop leadership skills and learn how assist participating children accomplish their individualized program goals. You will gain valuable experience working directly with therapists to coordinate and run the camps while interacting with participants ranging in age from kindergarten to high school. Arrive with an open mind prepared to have lots of fun!
Our Therapeutic Summer Camps this year include:

1. Soccer Camp – eligible participants attend prepared to have fun learning introductory soccer skills/drills and then applying them in a game. Volunteers needed from 8:30am – Noon on four consecutive days (July 5, 6, 7, 8) at Westview Secondary Turf Field.

2. Bike Camp – eligible participants attend with their bike prepared to have fun learning either how to ride successfully and/or build their bike riding skills and endurance. Volunteers needed from 8:30am – Noon on four consecutive days (July 11, 12, 13, 14) at South Bonson Landing, Pitt Meadows. Experience has shown us that having a few volunteers attend with their own bike is extremely beneficial and highly recommended (but not a requirement).
3. Teen Camp – eligible participants plan & engage in various meaningful community activities to develop their life skills (money management, transportation, meal planning etc.). Volunteers needed from 9am – 1pm on four consecutive days (August 2, 3, 4, 5) starting at Ridge Meadows Child Development Centre.

Volunteers can select one or more camps. However, we prefer volunteers to commit to all four sessions in one camp to ensure consistency for logistics and most importantly, participants. Please feel free to pass this information along to a friend who might be interested in volunteering with us.

New volunteers to our agency are expected to fill in an application form and provide proof of Criminal Record Check.

Deadline for submission of all necessary paper work is June 3rd, 2016. If you volunteered with us last year, no additional paperwork is required. If you are interested in working with us this summer, simply email your interest to jessica.apedaile@rmcdc.com.

There will be a volunteer orientation session on June 29th at 10:00 am to 12:00 pm at the Ridge Meadows Child Development Center.

Please do not hesitate to contact either of us directly with any questions.
